Four chip makers in China added to U.S. export list

WASHINGTON 10/19/2007 — Four chip makers are among the five companies approved by the Commerce Department as "validated end-users" of U.S. technology exports to China, the agency said.
The five companies announced by the Commerce Department"s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) are: Applied Materials China, Boeing Hexcel AVIC I Joint Venture, National Semiconductor Corp., Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. (SMIC) and Shanghai Hua Hong NEC Corp. Being designated by the U.S. government as a validated end-user means individual export licensing requirements will be removed on shipments of controlled items to the five companies. Startup offers free parameterized cores over the web

LONDON 10/19/2007 — Think Silicon Ltd. (Patras, Greece), a design services and IP core licensor, has developed an online IP configuration tool called IPGenius. It is an on-line platform for the generation of parametrizable IP modules than can be used in semiconductor devices. Fujitsu Announces Mobile WiMAX SoC Performance and Delivery Schedule

New chip will provide substantial advances for media-rich mobile PC applications; SoC to be first mobile WiMAX chip certified for Wave 2 conformance
Sunnyvale, California; Langen, Germany; Shanghai, China; Singapore, May 21, 2007 — Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA), Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe (FME), Fujitsu Microelectronics (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (FMC), and Fujitsu Microelectronics Asia Pte Ltd. (FMAL) announced today the specifications and delivery schedule for the company’s mobile baseband System-on-Chip (SoC), its next wave of innovation in WiMAX silicon solutions. The Fujitsu MB86K21 802.16e will provide substantial speed and performance improvements over comparable market alternatives, at low power consumption in a very compact form factor.
